The Parish Church of Sarum St. Martin - Weekly Intercessions

Sarum St Martin

3rd Sunday in OT - 26th January 2020

Father, for your Holy Church: Keep her faithful to the example of Christ, that she may always live in love and joy of You, and may use all occasions to grow into Christ your Son our Lord. Lord in your Mercy

Father, for the world in which we are set: May women & men of goodwill work for the reconciliation of all who would fight and kill. We give thanks for the faithfulness to you of Our Sovereign Lady Queen Elizabeth, and ask that like her our Government may be blessed with your grace. Lord in your mercy

Father, for our life together in this place: May we be known as those who live lives filled with your Grace and show the fruits of holiness in loaves transformed. Lord in your mercy

Father, for those who suffer illness and loneliness: May they be healed and comforted in our service of you in them. Amongst the sick we pray for Sarah Tompkins, Jayne Torvill, Aly Goodman, Anne Hatcher, Dianne Tarran, Joan Barrett, Robin Cooper & Jean Wren & amongst the housebound for Nona Hale, Eileen Hornby, Ruby Cutler, Betty Knapp, Sadie Robertson, Denys Wilson and all who receive the Holy Sacrament in the Nursing Homes of our Parish. Lord in your mercy

Father, for those who have died: May all who have died come to true life in heaven. For Elaine Ashley who have recently died and Jo Blasdale-Holmes, Herbert Hadley, Selwyn Terry & Martha Fieber, whose years’ mind falls this week.
Rest eternal grant unto them O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon them

Father, for our aid: Be pleased to hear the intercession of the saints in glory for us, especially the prayers of St. Martin of Tours our patron and our Holy Mother Mary who with the archangel we greet as we say: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of they womb Jesus. Holy Mary. Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and in the hour of our death. Amen

2nd Sunday in OT - 19th January 2020

Let us turn to our Heavenly Father and make our prayers of intercession. Father, we give you thanks that you have called us into your Church and have fed us with the bread of angels that we may be your light in our world. Grant us grace that that light may never dim. Lord, hear us

Father, look upon your world and upon all who given the nations. May they be guided by the Light which is Christ, that your truth may reign in their hearts. May they govern for all humanity. Lord, hear us

Father, may we in this Church show that same light that has been a beacon in this place for many centuries in our own age, that Christ may be known. Lord, hear us

Father, look with healing kindness upon all who are ill, especially Sarah Tompkins, Jayne Torvill, Aly Goodman, Anne Hatcher, Dianne Tarran, Joan Barrett, Robin Cooper that they may know wholeness in their bodies, and that Nona Hale, Eileen Hornby, Ruby Cutler, Betty Knapp, Sadie Robertson, Denys Wilson and all who receive the Holy Sacrament in the Nursing Homes of our Parish may have companionship in their lives. Lord, hear us

Father, through the death and resurrection of your Son raise to the life of heaven those who have died, especially, Cecil Knight, David Knight, Daphne Newton, George Chambers, Alma Joyce, Brian Jeans &Vera Rendle whose years’ mind fall this week.
Rest eternal grant unto them O Lord, and let light perpetual fall upon them.

Accept all of these our prayers Heavenly Father as you accept the prayers of the saints in glory, and may they never cease to pray for us on our earthly pilgrimage that we may be strengthened by the prayers of St. Martin of Tours, our patron, and the prayers of Our Lady Mary whom we greet in honour as we say:
Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst woman and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Baptism of the Lord - 12th January 2020

Father, on this day you announced to all who had ears to hear that Jesus of Nazareth is your Son, the Beloved: may the favour that rested upon Him rest also upon His Church that she may continue to announce the Gospel to all who are ready to hear your Word. Lord, in your mercy Father, on this day you announced to all who had ears to hear that Jesus of Nazareth is your Son, the Beloved: grant your grace to those who have the governance of the nations that they may collectively work for the good of all peoples without reference to colour of skin, to ethnicity or to nationality. Lord, in your mercy

Father, on this day you announced to all who had ears to hear that Jesus of Nazareth is your Son, the Beloved: may we your people of Sarum St. Martin always live as those upon whom your favour is seen to rest, that so seeing, others will want to worship you. Lord, in your mercy

Father, on this day you announced to all who had ears to hear that Jesus of Nazareth is your Son, the Beloved: may those who continue in sickness, amongst them Nona Hale, Sarah Tompkins, Jayne Torvill, Aly Goodman, Anne Hatcher, Dianne Tarran, Fr. Duncan Whyte, Joan Barrett and those who are housebound Nona Hale, Eileen Hornby, Ruby Cutler, Betty Knapp, Sadie Robertson, Denys Wilson, Ruth Hoare and all who receive the Holy Sacrament in the Nursing Homes of our Parish hear your call to health, wholeness and companionship. Lord, in your mercy

Rest eternal grant unto them O Lord, and let light perpetual fall upon them.

Father, the saints of heaven had ears to hear the call of your So: grant that St. Martin of Tours may aid us with his prayers as we seek to listen to your call to us. And may the Holy Virgin Mother continue to pray for her children as they journey towards you.
We greet her and say:
Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst woman and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen

A PRAYER FOR OUR PARISH

Almighty God, you have made us members of Christ and of his Church in this parish. May we as a congregation reach upwards to your throne in worship and adoration: inwards to one another in understanding and fellowship; and outwards to the world in evangelism and social compassion. Make us like a city set on a hill whose light cannot be hidden, so that men and women may find Christ as the Light of the World, and his Church as the family of the redeemed, and eternal life as the gift of God, through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen.
