The Parish Church of Sarum St. Martin - Weekly Intercessions

Sarum St Martin

7th Sunday in OT - 23rd February 2020

Father we glory in the example of the saints on earth and thank you for their prayers in heaven as we make our petitions to you.

May your Church on earth continue to be made holy by your Grace that like St. Peter and St. Paul,  Apostles & Martyrs we may be lights to guide all humankind to you, the One True Light. Lord, hear us

May all your people strengthened by your grace work to bring your peace and reconciliation to our troubled world. On this Sunday we pray for England’s Estates: Faithful God, your compassion embraces all people.  Renew your church in service of the urban estates of our nation; that anointed by your Spirit we may bear witness to your power to heal and save, and the transforming love revealed in your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Lord, hear us

May those who are ill in body & mind be comforted & healed by your grace that they may be restored to health & wholeness.  Especially do we pray for Sarah Tompkins, Jayne Torvill, Aly Goodman, Anne Hatcher, Dianne Tarran, Jane Wren, Joan Barrett & George Copper together with Nona Hale, Eileen Hornby, Ruby Cutler, Betty Knapp, Sadie Robertson, Denys Wilson, Fr. Duncan Whyte and all who receive the Holy Sacrament in the Nursing Homes of our Parish. Lord, hear us

May the dead be raised to glory that they may give you eternal praise with all the saints.  Especially do we pay for Elsie Truckle whose Years’ Mind falls this week. Rest eternal grant unto them O Lord, and let light perpetual fall upon them.

We claim a share in the prayers of all the saints, our name saints, our patron saints, St. Martin of Tours and Our Lady Mary, Queen of All Saints as we say Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst woman and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen

6th Sunday in OT - 16th February 2020

We long to praise the Lord God with lives transformed in Christ.  So in Christ we, in Christ, make our prayers of Intercession.

Lord God, for your Holy Church: may she live the life of Jesus Christ in all the world that the Good News that He brings may be heard by all that all may come to love you.

Lord God, for your world: may those who have the governance of people in their charge listen to the promptings of your Holy Spirit for peace and justice to reign, and so govern for all humankind.

Lord God, for this Church: grant that we may live in the Life of Christ and so glorify you with transformed lives.

Lord God, for those in sickness: may Sarah Tompkins, Jayne Torvill,  Aly Goodman, Anne Hatcher, Dianne Tarran, Jane Wren, Joan Barret together with Nona Hale, Eileen Hornby, Ruby Cutler, Betty Knapp, Sadie Robertson, Denys Wilson, Fr. Duncan Whyte and all who receive the Holy Sacrament in the Nursing Homes of our Parish know the loving and healing presence of Jesus in their illnesses and loneliness.

Lord God, for those who have died: May all who have died especially, Violet Parsons & Agnes Saunders whose Years’ Minds fall this week be cleansed of their sins and so come to know the life of heaven. Rest eternal ….

Lord God, may all of these prayers that we have made be perfected as they are joined with the ceaseless worship of the angels and saints before you; may St. Martin of Tours, our patron saint pray for us, and may Our Lady Mary, Mother of your only Son and so Mother of all Christians pray that we may live like Him.  With all the Church we honour he as we say, Hail Mary ….

A PRAYER FOR OUR PARISH

Almighty God, you have made us members of Christ and of his Church in this parish. May we as a congregation reach upwards to your throne in worship and adoration: inwards to one another in understanding and fellowship; and outwards to the world in evangelism and social compassion. Make us like a city set on a hill whose light cannot be hidden, so that men and women may find Christ as the Light of the World, and his Church as the family of the redeemed, and eternal life as the gift of God, through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen.
